Even though Janey seems to have accepted her parents' death, she still has not cried.  Meanwhile, YoYo, who seems to have forgotten her parents, cries frequently over things that seem unimportant to Janey.  What do you make of all this?  Please fully elaborate your thoughts about this.

Please reread the first page (186) of this chapter and then do some deep thinking: What do you think the content of Woodrow's English assignment has to do with other things and other people in this story besides Blind Benny?  Please explain yourself clearly and completely.

Chapter Twenty-one

Similar to Woodrow in chapter four, near the end of this chapter, Gypsy says, "When I'm allowed to come back and live one day over again exactly as it was... this day will be considered." (p. 185)

What do you think it was about this particular day that made it so special and so memorable for Gypsy.  Please be detailed and specific in your response.

Chapter Twenty

At the end of this chapter, Gypsy thinks, "I reckoned I was a different person in more ways than just my appearance, and a person who was anything but invisible." (page 174)

What do you think she meant by this?  Please explain yourself thoroughly.

After explaining her new hairstyle to Mary Lee, Gypsy thinks, "I think in that moment I knew me and Woodrow would be friends for life.  We had something.  We understood each other." (page 173)

Why did Gypsy know this at that moment?  What was the "something" they had?

On page 168, Gypsy compares herself to Belle, thinking, "Just like Aunt Belle, I had painted myself into a corner."  What do you think she meant by that?
